Epic Torch Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Overview

Effective date: September 13, 2026

Epic Torch is operated by Syntax Circus, LLC ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains how we handle information when you use the Epic Torch app on iPhone or Android. Epic Torch has no accounts and no sign-in. We process only the small amount of information described below.

Purchases

If you unlock a paid torch, we use RevenueCat to process and verify the purchase. RevenueCat assigns an anonymous, device-linked identifier and records your entitlement and transaction status. RevenueCat also receives your IP address as part of normal network requests. We never receive your name, email address or payment details. Apple and Google handle payment directly. Your unlocked torches are also cached on your device so they work offline.

Crash and diagnostic reports

Release builds of Epic Torch include crash reporting, built on the Sentry SDK, that sends reports to an error-reporting server we host ourselves (GlitchTip). A report can include the stack trace, app version, device model, operating system version, recent app log messages, and the environment (for example, production or test). We configure the SDK not to send personal data or screenshots, and we remove user and cookie information before sending. Reports are used only to find and fix bugs and are not shared with an analytics or advertising company.

Information on your device

Epic Torch stores your selected torch and cached purchase entitlements in the app's local storage on your device. On Android, that storage may be included in your device's backups if you have backup enabled.

The app uses your phone's motion sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope) to react to shaking and tilting, and its haptics motor for feedback. This sensor data is processed on your device and is never stored or sent anywhere. The app keeps the screen awake only while a torch is lit and the app is in the foreground.

Camera permission

Epic Torch asks for camera access only so it can switch on your device's flash LED as a flashlight. It never captures photos or video and does not use the camera sensor.

What we do not collect

  • Accounts, names, email addresses or passwords
  • Analytics or usage tracking
  • Advertising identifiers (there are no ads)
  • Your location
  • Your contacts, photos, video or microphone audio
  • Push notification tokens

How we use information

To deliver and restore the torches you bought, to diagnose and fix crashes and technical problems, and to prevent purchase fraud or abuse. We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

Only service providers needed to run the app: RevenueCat (purchase management) and Apple or Google (payment processing through their stores). We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or our service.

Retention

Purchase and entitlement records are kept as needed to maintain your access and for financial and legal records. Crash reports are kept only as long as needed to investigate and resolve issues.

Your choices

There is no account or profile tied to you. If you reinstall the app or move to a new phone, tap Restore in the torch collection drawer to reattach purchases through your Apple or Google account. For questions or requests about your information, contact us at the address below.

Children

Epic Torch is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a revised effective date.
